Manchester KOA to Stillwater Cove SP

10/4/15.
Another day in the saddle. We have ridden about 1100 miles-43.5 today and 2249 vf. I am burning 3-4000 calories every day, some days a lot more. Today was payback for yesterday's tailwind, a comparable headwind.
Everyday we have to buy groceries late in the day for the next three meals. So we spend a lot of time buying, cooking and eating.

MacKericher SP toManchester KOA

10/3/15.
Today we rode 43 miles and climber 3300 vf. Fortunately we had a tail wind of 20+ mph. There was an incredible double hairpin climb. I had to "push"part of the way. The grade exceeded 20%.
There was a pretty cemetery beside the Pacific.

Rest Day in Ft Bragg,CA. 10/2/15

Today is a rest day. We slept in, went for a good breakfast, grocery shopping, did laundry, got caught up with the Blog and journal entries. Where did all those bottles come from?

SOME REST DAY!

Standish Hickey SRA to MacKericher SP

10/1/15.
Today was the most difficult day of the trip. 4700 vf climbed over42 miles. Some of the grades were 15-17 %. It was a REST to have a 6% grade. We came out of the hills, and back to the coast. I was so cold on the decent that my fingers were almost numb. The good news is that we are over half way to San Diego.

Weott SP to Standish Hickey SRA

9/30/15.
Another very long day, 48 miles and 3700 vf. I found a bike shop and got a needed tire in Redway,CA. It is cannibis harvest season and an unbelievable number of young people wandering around. They are sleeping in the woods or any place they can find-hundreds of them!

Eureka to Weott SP 9/29/15

We continued on the Avenue of the Giants. It must have been 30 miles long.
I had two flat tires today, caused by a millimeter sized piece of glass. The roads along the way have been very rough-worse than south GA "Shake and Bake".
Joyce set up hey tent inside a redwood.
We rose52.8 miles today and climbed 2500 vf.

Elk Prairie SP to Eureka,CA 9/28/15

I got an early start today. Got a photo of a large herd of elk, thank goodness we had a long decent to start the day. Much flat riding today-nice! There were some very large Victorian homes in Eureka. We rode 52 miles today and climbed 2200 vf.
The Comfort Inn was wonderful, a real bed!
