9/27/15. Today's ride was somewhat short, 36 miles. What it lacked in distance, it made up for in vertical,3600 ft. Most of the climbing was at the end of the day. We rode through the towering Redwood forests. Some of these giants exceed 800 ft in heighth. We were treated to the Blood Moon Eclipse in the evening

Harris Beach SP to Crescent City,CA
9/26/15. We crossed into N. CA today. We stayed at the Ormond Guest Ranch and Stable. It was a neat place. I had to cook again tonight. Our tents were dripping wet from the dew here-extra weight. We are all carrying about 40-45 pounds of gear. What was I thinking?
Rest Day at Harris Beach SP 9/25/15
We rested a day near Brookings at Harris Beach SP. we ate at Pancho's Mexican one night and a ThaiRestaurant the next night. Ed's power supply was stolen here- the second one this is also a great little town. Many of the places we stay has no wi-fi or cell service.

Humbug SP to Harris Beach SP 9/24/15
In the past week we have climbed over 20,000 feet, who said it was all downhill from north to south? We are all very tired and looking forward to a rest day on Friday. Thankfully, we ate out tonight. Who is that mystery rider in the shadows? Today's ride was 52.9 miles and climbing 3600 ft.
Sunset Bay to Humbug SP. 9/23/15
We had a great ride along the Rogue River today. We usually manage to find a bakery along the morning routes for a pastry break. We camped beside another ACA group in Humbug park.
Florence Marina to Sunset Bay SP
9/22/15. More of the same-58.3 miles. One of our group crashed today. He got tangled with one of those rubber strip traffic counters.
Where is my lawyer? -broken collar bone and two ribs. We already miss him.
And another 3000 ft climbing days.
Dave, the leader had to ship his bike home and go to the hospital with Rick.
Beverly Beach SP to Florence Marina
9/21/15. Fifty-eight more climbing miles. When we got to Florence the wind blew so hard, it was difficult putting up tents. We had a beer and went for more(I mean Mexican food)!
Newhalem SP to Cape Lookout SP
9/19/15. I have lost count of the days on which we climbed 3000+ feet of vertical. I just want all to know that one CAR RIDE BELOW three mph, and not fall down!
Seaside to Newhalem SP. 9/18/15
The entire Oregon coast is so scenic. One would think it would become BORING taking photos of rocks in the Pacific-not so. I made a wrong turn and am now in Jurassic Park. Gives new meaning to a cyclist of the phrase "meals on wheels"! The Oceanside town of Manzanita was so cool.

9/17/15 Rest Day in Seaside, OR
What a neat little town is Seaside. It is right on the Pacific Ocean. I slept in then went to the Pig'n Pancake for a late breakfast, then walked around the town. It was so nice not being on a bike for a day.

Cathlamet,WA to Seaside,OR. 9/16/15
We had a treat today-a ferry ride across the Columbia River into Oregon. The treat did not last long as we had to do a five mile 6-9% climb. Does it never end? Today we had 3,000 ft of vertical! We rode through Astoria,OR on the way to Seaside-much wind. It has been rather cool-nights in 40-50's, days in 60-70's.
Lewis & Clark SP to Cathlamet,WA
9/15/15. I ride frequently with Barbara and Dana. They are from CA and OH. We rode through Toledo,WA, a small town with lots of sculptures and artwork. And guess what another long climb. When we got to the summit, we were told that a bear was in the area so we could not rest. When we descended to Highway 4, we had twenty miles of high traffic road with heavy traffic, and a small shoulder.
Elma RV Park to Lewis and Clark SP
9/14/15. Today was one of the nicer rides of the trip. We followed the Chehalis River for several miles. Why did I like this ride is because rivers flow downhill!!!!! We made it to Lewis and Clark and got to sleep indoors again. Yaaaa!
Some of the climbs today went for 4-5 miles. I have no choice but to peddle.
Belfair SP to Elma RV Park. 9/13/15
Another hilly 56 miles. And remember I am carrying an extra 40+ pounds of gear-tent, clothing, sleeping bag, rain gear etc. The RV park was great, and we were able to eat indoors- a real luxury.
Kitsap to Belfair SP's. 9/12/15
Today's ride started rather blissfully. We rode on the shore of a clear beautiful lake. Then for some strange reason we left a perfectly level road to climb a 19% road. I am getting into this pain and suffering-whip me, beat me, make me climb steep hills.
Recognize the skinny shadow of a cyclist.
Deception Pass SP to Kitsap SP
This was the most difficult 63 miles that I have ever ridden. Some of the climbs go for miles, great scenery though. I rode with a lady from Idaho, weight 105 lbs. I have to do these rides at my pace, not hers!
Tonight is my night to cook. The menu consists of green curry with Organics wax beans, broccoli, and green beans over rice. All would be impressed.
